Batchelder Award
The Batchelder Award is given to an American publisher for a children’s book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a language other than English in a country other than the United States, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States.
Buckeye Book Award Winners

Caldecott Award
The Caldecott Medal honors the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
Coretta Scott King Award
Given to African American authors and illustrator for outstanding inspirational and educational contributions, the Coretta Scott King Book Award titles promote understanding and appreciation of the culture of all peoples and their contribution to the realization of the American dream of a pluralistic society. The award is designed to commemorate the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to honor Mrs. Coretta Scott King for her courage and determination to continue the work for peace and world brotherhood. 
Geisel Award
The Theodor Seuss Geisel Medal honors the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished contribution to the body of American children’s literature known as beginning reader books published in the United States during the preceding year.
Gryphon Award Book List
Books awarded the Gryphon Award are recognized as a work of fiction or non-fiction for which the primary audience is children in Kindergarten through Grade 4. The title chosen best exemplifies those qualities that successfully bridge the gap in difficulty between books for reading aloud to children and books for practiced readers.
Hans Christian Anderson
Every other year IBBY presents the Hans Christian Andersen Awards to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children’s literature.
NCTE Award for Excellence in Poetry
The National Council of Teachers of Engllish award that recognizes and fosters excellence in children’s poetry.
Newbery Award
The Newbery Medal honors the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
Odyssey Award
The Odyssey Award will be awarded annually to the best audiobook produced for children and/or young adults, available in English in the United States.
Pura Belpre Award
The Belpré Medal honors a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose works best portray, affirm, and celebrate the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.
Scott O’Dell Award
Scott O’Dell established this award to encourage other writers–particularly new authors–to focus on historical fiction.
The Carnegie Medal
The Carnegie Medal honors the producer of the most outstanding video production for children released during the preceding year.
The Orbus Pictus Award
The National Council of Teachers of English annual award for promoting and recognizing excellence in the writing of nonfiction for children.
The Sibert Award
The Sibert Medal honors the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published during the preceding year.
Wilder Award
The Wilder Medal honors an author or illustrator whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children.
